HISTORY

Our Story

OLG Propane has been a trusted name in Oklahoma since 1937. For five generations, our family has worked to keep homes, farms, and businesses fueled with safe, reliable propane service.

Our history starts in 1937 when OLG Propane was founded by J.O. Green, a pioneer in Oklahoma’s propane industry. At the time, propane and butane were often undervalued, vented, or burned off. However, J.O. saw their true worth and built a business that combined innovation with a strong sense of community. What began as a small, family-run operation quickly grew as neighbors came to rely on the safety, service, and honesty that defined OLG from the start.

Over the years, leadership passed to the next generations of the Green family. Ken Green, our third-generation president, began working at OLG as a teenager, driving delivery trucks by the age of 18. When his father passed away, Ken took over leadership at just 22 years old. Today, OLG continues under his leadership alongside the fourth generation, Krista and Frank Stapp, with the fifth generation already learning the ropes. This continuity ensures that the values J.O. Green established will guide OLG for decades to come.

Growing With Oklahoma

From one location in the 1930s to serving more than 12,000 customers today, OLG has grown responsibly alongside the communities we serve. With eight sales offices and multiple storage sites, we cover 17 counties in central Oklahoma. Our operations are supported by about 40 employees who bring decades of experience to the job, with many serving the same customers for generations.

Operational improvements have also kept us efficient and reliable. In recent years, OLG streamlined its fleet from 20 trucks to 12, investing in technology that helps drivers provide clear and consistent service. Each delivery vehicle is equipped with tools that show customer details, tank information, and payment history, ensuring accurate service even when substitute drivers are on route. These updates allow us to deliver propane more reliably while continuing to provide personal service.

A Commitment to Community

OLG’s history is not just about growth, but about giving back. We are deeply rooted in our communities, supporting schools, 4-H clubs, and youth sports teams with sponsorships and donations. We participate in career fairs to introduce students to the trades, contribute to conservation groups like Ducks Unlimited, and lend a hand with local fundraisers and events.

One of our most meaningful programs is the “Pink Truck,” which donates one cent per gallon from that delivery truck to the St. Anthony Breast Center. These funds help provide breast cancer screenings for uninsured women in Oklahoma. Along with our annual customer appreciation cookouts and ongoing community sponsorships, programs like this reflect OLG’s commitment to the people and places we serve.
